It was 5 in the morning. I just woke up and started sketching. Lately I
realized there is some connections to my childhood and initial
personality. I remember my mum was telling me a story happened to my
aunt!. Life is all about moments and connecting those puzzle!
I needed to make some composition based on the story Baba Yaga, how can I
make it playful and meaningful at the same time? I made tons of
sketches and these are some of the process. You can see final version on
my Baba Yaga Project.
I always hided this piece from my Professor, and I dont know why I did
that=). Personally I like this piece a lot but again this is little bit
childish to me. It is what it is!
I always sit down and break everything down to solve the problem. This
one I was experimenting some different character design styles that I
can combine with my concept. I read about historical aspect and started
with basic cave paintings! Also I wanted to explore something modernish.
Enjoy the process.
Somehow I always go with vibrant colors? Ok I like this piece but it is
not as dark as the story! When I realized it is not about making cool
images, it is all about the feeling of the content of the story! I close
the page and re render my composition. You can see final version on my Baba Yaga Project.
This Project was so much fun. After the Baba Yaga Project, Professor
Julie asked me to come up with different style. It was not easy in the
beginning because you dont know what to do. I started with just
sketching initial ideas. Some character design again=) Later some
concept sketches based on Alice In Wonderland. I am in Atlanta right,
and I was just playing with words, what if Alice in Atlanta? or then
Alice in Atlantis just came... I know there is no connection but this is
how I ended up with=). Julie brought me a big old limited edition book,
I searched tons of books in library and tons of images online! My
researches can fill a big hard drive=). I ended up using different
software and different techniques. Ialso used a reference model, my
friend Isabella. She helped me a lot and I cant thank her enough!.

Enjoy
